Job offers are still online: divers, waiters, cooks, beach attendants, hostesses, night watchmen… Less than six weeks before summer, in the Gard, tourism professionals are still looking for seasonal workers to complete their teams. In the department, more than 10 million tourists are recorded each year.
In mid-April, in Collias, in the east of the department, Corentin Carpentier, co-manager of the restaurant L’Enclos, has not yet completed his team of servers. For his establishment located on the banks of the river – the Gardon –, which only opens in summer, he is missing two. But it is unthinkable for him not to “ working at full capacity » during the summer season. To overcome recruitment difficulties, it has chosen to offer the “Order & Pay” service: customers can access the menu and the menu by scanning a QR code, but also transmit their order directly to the kitchen, and even pay with their mobile phone.
“It is a technology that is quite common in Paris and large cities, a little less so in areas like ours, but which can help us streamline the service”explains the boss, who calculates: “Out of 100 seats, if ten tables use it, it can save me a server, therefore a salary, and above all, it reassures the rest of the staff, who will be less stressed, especially in the dining room. We work better, we save time, and in the end, so does the customer. »
