The collection of Goods and Services Tax (GST) increased by 12.6 percent on an annual basis in April to about Rs 2.37 lakh crore. This information was received from the official figure released on Thursday.
The GST collection was Rs 2.10 lakh crore in April last year, which is the second highest collection after the implementation of the new indirect tax system from July 1, 2017 in the country. Earlier, the tax collection in March 2025 was Rs 1.96 lakh crore.
During April, 2025, GST revenue from domestic transactions increased by 10.7 percent to about Rs 1.9 lakh crore, while revenue from imported goods increased by 20.8 percent to Rs 46,913 crore.
The 'refund' released last month rose 48.3 percent to Rs 27,341 crore. After adjusting this 'refund', the net GST collection increased by 9.1 percent to more than Rs 2.09 lakh crore in April.
