New Delhi. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal urged industry leaders to empower disabled people through skill training and employment opportunities. He said that the industry should find ways to provide skill development in Braille and also make skill development available to people with other physical disabilities. Goyal said that there is a need to develop certain skills that will help them become independent.

Citing the example of SEEPZ in Mumbai, Goyal suggested the participants to take it as a mission to empower persons with disabilities by identifying their strengths and making them employable. At SEEPZ, 1,500 visually impaired children are trained by the gems and jewelery sector for jobs in the same industry. The Union Minister said, “Complaint and customer support centers are areas where persons with disabilities can work, and even in sports. We can also promote sports festivals to further encourage the disabled.
