Gopalganj: 2 children died due to drowning in Khanua river, condition of two is critical, family members are crying badly.


A major accident occurred while bathing in Khanua river on Saturday (16 May) in Gopalganj district of Bihar. This incident took place at Keravania Ghat located in Bharpurwa village of Vijaypur police station area. Four children who had gone to take a bath in the river went into the deep water, due to which two children died, while two were seriously injured. The injured have been referred to Deoria for better treatment after first aid.

The deceased included Ayush Mishra, 11-year-old son of Digvijay Mishra, resident of Bharpurwa village, Om Pandey, 13-year-old son of Rajesh Pandey, resident of Ghatbandhaura village. While 15 year old Chulbul Pandey and 16 year old Vishal Thakur are seriously injured. It is said that all four had gone to take bath at Keravania Ghat located near the village on Saturday. During this time he went into deep water and started drowning.

Police sent the dead bodies to Sadar Hospital for postmortem.

The priest of the temple present at the ghat raised an alarm after seeing the children drowning, after which the villagers reached the spot and after a lot of effort pulled everyone out of the river. Everyone was immediately taken to Vijaypur Primary Health Center, where doctors declared Ayush and Om dead. There is a mournful silence in the village after the incident. The family members were in bad condition, crying. Police have sent both the bodies to Sadar Hospital Gopalganj for post-mortem.

Silence spread in Bharpurwa village after the accident

After the tragic accident at Keravania Ghat of Khanua River, there is a mournful silence in Bharpurwa village. There is chaos among the family members. The atmosphere of the village became completely sad after the death of children due to drowning in the river while bathing on Saturday morning. The condition of two other children remains critical and they are undergoing treatment in Deoria. After the incident, screams of family members could be heard from Vijaypur Primary Health Center to Bharpurwa village.

Deceased Ayush Mishra was the only son of his parents. He has a sister in the family. Mother Sonam Devi became unconscious as soon as she got the news of her son’s death. While crying, she was saying again and again, “Ab humni kekra sahara jeeb sun…” The eyes of the people present in the hospital premises also became moist.

Villagers gathered at the priest’s noise, rescue work went on for hours

The priest of the temple present on the ghat raised an alarm after seeing the children drowning. After this, nearby villagers reached the spot, entered the river and started rescue operations. After much effort, the four teenagers were taken out and immediately taken to Vijaypur Primary Health Centre. There the doctors declared Ayush and Om dead.

Om came to uncle’s house from Delhi

Om Pandey, who died in the accident, was originally a resident of Ghat Bandhaura village of Vijaypur police station, but currently lived in Delhi with his entire family. He along with his mother and elder brother Chulbul Pandey had come from Delhi a few days ago to attend an auspicious program at the house of his maternal uncle Digvijay Mishra in Bharpurwa village. There was an atmosphere of happiness in the family, but no one had any idea that this journey would become the last journey of his life. As soon as she saw her son’s dead body, mother Neetu Devi started crying loudly. The family members somehow managed to take care of him.

The tears of the family members are not stopping

As soon as information about the incident was received, Vijaypur police station reached the hospital and sent both the bodies to Sadar Hospital Gopalganj for post-mortem. After the accident, there is a wave of mourning in Bharpurwa village and the surrounding areas. The people of the village are busy consoling the families of the deceased, but their tears are not stopping.
