Eggs can be found at cheap prices in 13 places of the two city corporations of Dhaka. The sale of these eggs will start from tomorrow Sunday (November 10), Director General of Consumer Rights Protection Directorate Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan said.
He gave this information while participating in a shadow parliament titled 'Syndicates created by the previous government are responsible for market instability' at BFDC in the capital on Saturday (November 9).
Alim Akhtar Khan said, this program will be conducted at 7 places in Dhaka South City Corporation and 6 places in North City Corporation. It is expected that buyers will be able to buy eggs at a cheaper price.
He also expressed hope that the market will be under control in the upcoming Ramadan. The director general of the department said that the government needs good governance to break market syndicates.
According to the National Consumer Rights Protection Department, Tejgaon Bazar, Mirpur-1, Mirpur-10, Mohammadpur Krishi Market, Sadek Khan Krishi Market (Mohammadpur) and Uttara-10 (Khamarpara Road) of Dhaka North City Corporation and Kaptan Bazar of Dhaka South City Corporation, Newmarket, Khilgaon, Jurain, Konapara Saruliya, Shanir Akhra and Chittagong At 13 centers including Road, 20 lakh eggs will be supplied to consumers directly from producers through agents or dealers per day. Two city corporations will be in overall charge of this.
Out of this, 6.5 lakh eggs will be distributed daily in Tejgaon market and Kaptan market, 13 lakh eggs and 7 lakh eggs will be distributed in the remaining 11 markets at a proportional rate and supplied for sale.
