The law minister said these things while addressing the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the re-excavation of Shirishkath canal dug by martyred President Ziaur Rahman in Kanyadah village of Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah on Monday (March 16) afternoon.
Referring to the canal digging program launched by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman for the development of Bangladesh, the minister said that Ziaur Rahman, the dreamer of self-reliant Bangladesh, showed the country the path to economic liberation by digging canals across the country. Now his privileged son Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has started the process of development and production again in this country by restarting the canal digging program introduced by his father.
Jhenaidah Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Al Masoud presided over the event among others Jhenaidah-2 Constituency Member of Parliament Ali Azam. Abu Bakar, Member of Parliament of Jhenaidah-3 Constituency Matiar Rahman, Member of Parliament of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Abu Talib, Administrator of Jhenaidah Zilla Parishad MA Majid, Superintendent of Police Mahfuz Afzal, BNP Leader Rashed Khan, Mehdi Hasan Roni and others were present.
At the end of the inauguration ceremony, the law minister inaugurated the digging of the Shirishkath canal by cutting the soil with his own hands. At this time, special prayers are offered for the welfare of the country and the nation. Later, the Law Minister visited the shrine of the late Member of Parliament of Jhenaidah-2 Constituency, Mosiur Rahman.
