Adviser Mahfuz Alam said that the chief adviser will hold a dialogue with the leaders of the student organization on a larger scale. Stating that the chief adviser has heard the religious leaders' speech, he said that through this, the government wants to send a message to the forces that are for and against Bangladesh in the world. That is, the people of Bangladesh are at one point in terms of community, they have met at one place. The post-July coup government will work proactively to prevent any conspiracy, at any cost. The government will not give shelter and indulgence to this stubborn work. Rather, I will move towards the creation of national unity.
After the dialogue with the religious leaders on Thursday (December 5), the chief advisor Dr. Mahfuz Alam briefed the journalists on behalf of Muhammad Yunus.
He said, we will increase the strength of the unity of our country. No matter how many conspiracies there are outside, if we are politically and communally united in the country, united in other areas, then no matter how much propaganda is going on outside, Bangladesh will move forward. This is what the chief adviser said.
Mahfuz Alam said, “If there is any oppression against other communities including Hindus here… we don't say that there is no oppression, it is not true to say all out.” But if it happens, you will promote the government's measures against it. Mahfuz Alam also said that the government has taken action in the incident of Sunamganj. He requested the media to publicize it. Mahfuz said, then they will get trust. This country belongs to them, to all citizens. The chief adviser finally said, harmony is needed. So that fear does not get involved with it. Rather, citizens can move about without fear, with all matching occurring naturally. Only we are standing in the way – so I am calling Hindus, Buddhists not to let it happen. It is the vision of the government that unity and harmony should be maintained. So that we can go a long way on the path we have taken after the July uprising. People of all parties, opinions, paths and religions of Bangladesh can stand on a strong political stage and make Bangladesh stand on the world stage. I have sought the support of religious leaders for this. They have given unwavering support. We hope that the pace at which Bangladesh is moving and the national unity of Bangladesh will go far in the future.
Mahfuz Alam urged the media to present correct information on communal issues. He said, we are not giving press notes. Rather, highlight the facts where such incidents will occur in Bangladesh. We will take immediate action.
In response to a question about Indian media reports, he said, India must recognize the July uprising and the massacres that took place under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. The government has taken initiatives to deal with all the incidents of oppression that have happened here. We will do our best. Certainly the role of their media in relations with India, when they had the opportunity to speak. Requested to see their issues. The propaganda is a threat to the friendship between the two countries. We hope they will be happy. It is the responsibility of the media of Bangladesh to present the truth. Truth must prevail. We must protect our people's uprising.
Regarding the government's thinking on the proposal of the International Religious Harmony Conference, Mahfuz Alam said that it is a proposal. The Advisory Council will look into this matter. I am willing to take any initiative for the good of the country and people. I will do that.
In response to a question, he said, the law will see who is guilty. Religion, race, caste will not be seen there.
He said, the bigger issue than Indian aggression is how much we have been able to increase our power. How much preparation do we have within ourselves? I can hear the aggression. Many types of aggression can be done by many countries. We will grow stronger from our place, become stronger—that is the vision.
Stating that the government will work in the international arena to prevent anti-national propaganda, Mahfuz Alam said that we have discussed our vision and strategy in the advisory council. Hope to see some fruitful action soon. He has been doing the work especially in the press wing for a long time. We think that the people of the country and the media are revolutionizing the social media. I can show it to the whole world.
Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that the chief adviser will meet with the ambassadors of 27 countries of the European Union on December 9. Seven or eight countries have embassies in it. They are our biggest exporting country. Matters of mutual interest will be discussed.
