Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Prahlad Joshi has asked industry players and stakeholders to develop a strategy to achieve India's ambitious target of 500 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030. Addressing an event, Joshi assured that the government will continue to support technological progress and innovation in the clean energy sector. The Minister of New and Renewable Energy emphasized that the target of 500 GW by 2030 is a clarion call to action.
“India has already achieved 212 GW of capacity from non-fossil fuel sources and is on track to surpass the 2030 target,” the ministry said in a statement. The Minister stressed the importance of concerted, collaborative efforts among all stakeholders to overcome challenges and accelerate progress in the renewable energy sector.'' The event held in Bhubaneswar was attended by New and Renewable Energy Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh, Power Secretary Pankaj Aggarwal, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power Shripad Yesso Naik and Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo were also present.
