Delhi Two laborers die of suffocation clean drain in Sarojini Nagar ann


Delhi News: Two people, who had come to clean a drain in Pilanji village of Sarojini Nagar police station area, have died due to suffocation due to poisonous gas, while the third is being treated in the hospital. In this case, the deceased have been identified as Babundra Kumar Singh (29) and Ram Asare (41). He was a resident of Gopalganj of Bihar and Hamirpur district of UP. Whereas, Srinath Soren (28) of West Bengal is undergoing treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre. Police have registered an FIR in this matter and are investigating.

According to the information received from DCP South West Surendra Chaudhary, Sarojini Nagar police station had received information about the collapse of a building through PCR call, in which it was told that due to the collapse of the building near Metro Gate No. 1, three-four people were trapped in the debris. Are trapped.

Immediately on receiving information about the incident, the local police reached the spot, where they came to know that two laborers had come down to clean a drain at the NBCC construction site located near Metro Gate Number 2 in Pilanji village. The drain is not in use at present, he became unconscious in the drain. On this, another laborer was sent inside the drain and he also became unconscious. Two laborers, Babundra Kumar Singh and Srinath Soren, were immediately taken to the hospital by VCL Construction Company ambulance, while the third laborer, Ram Asare, was sent to AIIMS Trauma Center by ERV.

Two laborers died, one is undergoing treatment

One of the two laborers sent to Safdarjung Hospital, Babundra Kumar Singh, died during treatment, while Ram Asare, who was taken to AIIMS Trauma Center in an unconscious state, was also declared dead by the doctors. The treatment of the third laborer, Shrinath Soren, is ongoing. The police took the body into custody and kept it for post-mortem and after the post-mortem at AIIMS Trauma Center yesterday, the body was handed over to the family members.

Workers' allegation – forced to work without safety equipment

A laborer working at the construction site told that initially a laborer had gone inside the sewer. Later the other two went inside to save him, but everyone became ill. This is negligence on the part of the company and the supervisor. They are forcing us to work at the construction site without any proper safety equipment. The wife of Srinath Soren, who is undergoing treatment in the hospital, said that she had forbidden her husband from going into the sewer. He told that two other laborers refused to enter. She doesn't know why her husband went inside without any safety equipment.

Police have interrogated the contractor and supervisor in connection with the incident. The police have also taken statements of other workers. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Judicial Code and the police is investigating the matter.
