Convoy of PTI workers near Islamabad

A policeman on duty at Hakla Interchange was killed on Monday when a PTI procession entered the Islamabad border. According to Punjab Police, the constable lost his life in the attack by the rioters. Pakistani media Dawn reported this news.

According to Punjab Police's X-A post, Muzaffargarh Police Constable Mohammad Mubarish Bilal was seriously injured in the riots. Later he died. Chief of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar paid tribute to Constable Bilal's sacrifice and promised to ensure the welfare of his family.

Dr. Anwar said that the Punjab Police is ready to make maximum sacrifices to protect the constitution and laws of the country.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif called the constable's death despicable and ordered exemplary punishment for the culprits. He said that the attack on the policemen in the name of peaceful protest is condemnable. Security of law enforcement personnel should be ensured.

Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi called Constable Bilal a martyr. He said the rioters will face fair trial.

‘The protest was peaceful’

PTI Central Information Secretary Waqas Akram termed the government's claim as 'false'. He said PTI workers were peacefully moving towards Islamabad. If the police are responsible for the attack, they must bear the full responsibility.

PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai said the procession entered Islamabad from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said, we are moving ahead peacefully despite the obstruction of the police.

Bushra Bibi's call

PTI leader and Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi in a video message called for participation in the march towards Islamabad. He said, 'This movement will not stop until Imran Khan is free.'

Fear of worsening law and order situation

The government said the protests were part of a planned conspiracy ahead of the arrival of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Islamabad. Home Minister Naqvi said that strict action will be taken if any attempt is made to enter Islamabad.

The capital's red zone has been completely sealed. Mobile service is working but internet is down.

Collision and security measures

Clashes between police and PTI workers were reported at several places. The attackers burnt a toll booth and a van.

The government says the PTI's program is causing public distress and tarnishing the country's image during international tours. PTI, on the other hand, claims that their movement is an attempt to restore democracy.
