The Department of Education Audit has received irregularities in the construction of three buildings of the National University. No projects have been set up to construct these buildings at a cost of more than Tk 1 crore. The finance ministry's exemption has not been taken. The authority has been spent 'willingly'. The audit report of the Department of Education Audit under the Bangladesh Mahasab Auditor (CAG) mentions these irregularities and financial losses. The report recommended to collect the money as well as to take action against those responsible.
The audit inspection report for the fiscal year 2021-22 and 2021-22 has been sent to the university recently. The audit report was prepared in the fiscal year 2022-20. The buildings found irregularities in the construction are the Senate and ICT building, the dormitory building, the staff quarter and officers quarter building.
Asked about the Vice -Chancellor of the National University Dr. ASM Amanullah said that the search committee has been formed to investigate irregularities and corruption in the national university in the last five years. According to the report, the National University gave its three regional offices to the Department of Education (EED), even though it was its own engineering department. It cost Tk 1 crore 25 lakh 5 thousand. If the University of the National University does not have enough capacity to raise the need for the requirements of the office and the cost of the university has increased manifold due to its own financing consulting institution.
According to the report, the administrative committee of the university and the cabinet for approval of the cabinet for more than Tk 1 crore work are for the completion of more than Tk 1 crore. But the National University authorities have constructed various buildings without the approval of the Cabinet Committee and the Administrative Ministry. The objections are being settled at the tripartite meeting if they are satisfied with the reply. This is the running process. Action will be taken according to the recommendations made in the audit report.
Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Dr. Iftekharuzzaman said those involved in irregularities should be brought under accountability. They must take action according to the law.
