Coal India's coal production increased by 2.4 per cent to 471 million tonnes (MT) in the April-November period of the current financial year 2024-25. The production of Coal India Limited (CIL) in the same period a year ago was 46 crore tonnes. CIL's contribution to domestic coal production is more than 80 percent.

New Delhi. Coal production of public sector company Coal India increased by 2.4 percent to 471 million tonnes (MT) in the April-November period of the current financial year 2024-25. The production of Coal India Limited (CIL) in the same period a year ago was 46 crore tonnes. CIL's contribution to domestic coal production is more than 80 percent. CIL said in the information given to BSE, the company's production increased by 1.7 percent to 6.72 crore tonnes in November, whereas it was 6.6 crore tonnes in the same month a year ago.

The quantity of coal supplied from coal mines i.e. coal offtake increased by 1.5 percent to 49.26 crore tonnes in the April-November period of the current financial year, whereas it was 48.52 crore tonnes in the same period a year ago. The company's coal offtake remained almost stable at 63 million tonnes in November, compared to 62 million tonnes in November 2023. Coal India Limited had produced 77.36 crore tonnes in the financial year 2023-24. However, it fell short of the target of 78 crore tonnes set for the financial year. Coal production in the financial year 2022-23 was 70.32 crore tonnes.
