During the meeting with Zardari, a delegation of Chinese investors outlined their plans to invest $1 billion in building a medical city in Karachi's Dhabeji Economic Zone. This economic zone is outside the largest city and financial center of Pakistan. The Medical City will be Pakistan's first fully integrated pharmaceutical and medical ecosystem. Korangi Trade and Industry Association (KATI) has been entrusted with the responsibility of operating the Dhabeji Economic Zone.
KATI said in a statement that this promise made by Chinese investors is an example of the growing economic relations between the two countries. The meeting was held after successful talks between the Sindh government and a group of Chinese investors, which was also attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Consul General of China. According to the statement, President Zardari highlighted the importance of promoting deeper economic and trade cooperation between Pakistan and China.
