The judge of the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal sentenced two people to death in the rape and murder case in Barisal. Besides, two accused have been fined one lakh rupees.
On Monday (November 18) at noon, the judge of the court said. Rakibul Islam gave this verdict.
The convicts are Sayan Chandra Sheel and Suman Fakir of Babuganj. The accused were present in the court when the verdict was announced.
The plaintiff's lawyer and the government's lawyer said that the woman was raped at her home in Kedarpur Union of Babuganj Upazila of Barisal on January 12, 2022 at around 8 am. He was then killed and the body was thrown into the river Sandhya.
Imran Hossain, the son of the woman who died in the incident, filed a case against two people at the Babuganj police station as the plaintiff. On Monday, the court awarded the death sentence to the accused, Sayan Chandra Sheel and Suman Fakir, as the facts were proved after taking the testimony in the case.
