Bangladesh-India Army Chiefs' Video Conversation, Discussing 'Mutual Interests'

Indian Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi spoke to Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman via video call. The Indian Express reported that they had a conversation on the 'mutual interests' of the two countries on Wednesday (November 6).

According to the report, Sheikh Hasina left the post of Prime Minister and left Bangladesh for India on August 5 in the face of student uprising. Then this is the first time that Bangladesh and India had a conversation at the level of the army chiefs.

In this regard, a post on the X handle of the Indian Army said that Indian Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi had a video call with Bangladesh Army Chief General Walker-uz-Zaman. During this time, they exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest including bilateral defense cooperation.

According to the report of the Indian media The Print, the army officers did not talk about this meeting. They did not want to say anything about the context in which they joined the video call.
