People participated in the protest against the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.
Investigation agencies in Bangladesh have arrested 4 people for attacks on Hindu temples and houses. These people were accused of vandalizing a temple and houses and shops of Hindus in the northern district Sunamganj. Police had registered a case against 12 named and 170 unidentified people in this case.
There was tension in Sunamganj district following a Facebook post on December 3. Although the post was deleted after the controversy, its screen shots went viral on social media. After this violence spread in the area.
During this period the rioters had vandalized the Loknath temple and houses of Hindus in Sunamganj. After the violence spread, the police took the person who made the post, Akash Das, into custody the same day. Due to security reasons, he was taken to the police station of the district headquarters.

Continuously increasing attacks on Hindus
Cases of religious violence against Hindus have increased continuously since former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country. According to the report of 'Center for Democracy, Pluralism and Human Rights' (CDPHR), between 5 and 9 August, 190 incidents of looting of Hindus were reported in Bangladesh.
Besides, cases of arson in 32 houses, vandalism in 16 temples and 2 cases of sexual violence were reported. According to the report, till August 20, a total of 2010 cases of violence against Hindus were reported. This included 157 cases of attacks on Hindu families and 69 cases of desecration of temples.
Pandals were also targeted in Bangladesh during Durga Puja. Apart from this, many incidents of desecration of statues were also recorded.
ISKCON saint arrested on treason charges

Saint Chinmoy Krishna Das had united the people against the atrocities on Bangladeshi Hindus.
The Yunus government had arrested ISKCON saint Chinmay Krishna Das on 25 November on charges of treason. Chinmoy Prabhu was accused of insulting the National Flag during one of his rallies. This rally was held on October 25 at Lal Dighi Ground in Chittagong.
After the rally, BNP leader Firoz Khan had filed a complaint against Chinmay Prabhu and others at the police station. In fact, during the rally, some people had hoisted the flag of Sanatan Jagran Manch above the national flag of Bangladesh on the Azadi Pillar. In Bangladesh, flying any other flag above the national flag is considered treason.
Violence spread in Chittagong after the arrest of Chinmoy Prabhu. A lawyer also died in this violence. After the death of the lawyer, a case was once again registered against Chinmoy Prabhu and others. 164 named and about 500 unidentified people have been made accused in this case.
