Arab Finance: Annual gross inflation in Egypt decreased to 26.3% in October 2024, compared to 38.5% in the same month of 2023, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics announced in statement Newspaper on November 10.
The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics report showed an increase in the prices of the food and beverage sector on an annual basis by 26.9%, the alcoholic beverages and tobacco sector by 35.1%, and the clothing and footwear sector by 24.4%.
Transport sector prices also rose by 30.2% last October, while housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel sector prices rose by 20.3%.
Prices for the healthcare sector also rose in October by 31.3% year-on-year, while the restaurants and hotels sector rose by 30.8%.
Meanwhile, telecom sector prices rose 12.6% year-on-year last month.
In contrast, education sector prices remained unchanged at 12.3%.
The monthly consumer price index recorded 240.0 points in October, and the inflation rate reached 1.5% compared to 2.3% in September.
It is worth noting that the annual inflation rate in Egypt decreased to 26% last September, compared to 40.3% in the same month of 2023.
