Amazon has introduced a new password-sharing rule for its Prime members in India. Starting in January 2025, Prime members will be allowed to sign in to a maximum of 5 devices, including a maximum of 2 TVs.

The company issued a statement saying – As a Prime member, you and your family are entitled to enjoy Prime Video on maximum 5 devices. We are updating our usage term in India from January 2025. You can manage your devices on your Settings page or purchase another Prime membership to watch Prime Video on more devices.

Subscribers can currently log in on 10 devices

Currently Amazon Prime subscribers can log in to 10 devices at a time. This includes phones, laptops, tablets and TVs. Now, with the new rules this limit will be reduced to five. This change is a big blow to those customers who are paying Rs 1499 annually to avail the Amazon Price Membership.

What does the user get in Amazon Prime membership?

In Prime membership, you get to watch unlimited OTT content, movies and shows on Prime Video. Users can enjoy songs on Prime Music app without ads. Apart from this, you get fast delivery of your order on Amazon Shopping App.

You get early access to exclusive deals and special events on the shopping app. That means you can take advantage of sales and hot deals 24 hours in advance. Apart from this, in Prime membership you also get access to e-books, magazines, comics and games.
