All the surprises for the fans in this year's BPL

The 2025 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) schedule has already been released by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The 11th edition of BPL will start on December 30. But this time BCB is indicating something different than the previous 10 editions. Cricket Board President Farooq Ahmed has already said that they want to bring a difference in BPL by going beyond the traditional.

As per the plan, BCB is moving on the way to give great things to the cricket lovers in BPL. There was no shortage of discontent with the BPL. Dissatisfaction with broadcasting, umpiring, DRS, ground infrastructure has been heard at various times. Farooq hopes that it will not happen like that this time. According to him, 2025 BPL has great surprises.

In the video message sent by BCB yesterday, Farooq said about the newness of BPL, 'We got a new government in the movement of anti-discrimination students. We have tried to differentiate from the 10 BPLs that have come before. I have planned a lot. Hopefully, it will be a very good tournament. I think that will satisfy everyone, you all will enjoy BPL.'

There have been questions about umpiring in the BPL, along with broadcast and DRS issues. Farooq said in this context, 'We have told those who have digital rights, we want a digital perimeter board. I told the TV production, the people who will show the game on TV and the production – both should be very good. Hawk-eye, DRS—they'll all be there. Umpiring we are trying to improve a lot. There will be foreign umpires.

Farooq is confident of something good in the commentary. The BCB president said about keeping big names, 'You know, commentary is a very important thing. We are trying hard to improve its quality. We have talked to the production to bring in big names. All things considered, I think it's going to be a good BPL.'

Even though BPL has become one age, it has not been able to stand on a successful tournament or foundation. Farooq said that they are planning on a bigger scale in the future. He said, '10 BPLs have passed, we are yet to stand on a perfect foundation. This BPL is our last tournament in this cycle. We will plan bigger from next year, give teams for a long time. But now I will tell the teams, you own foreign players, when to start training – to do everything properly.'

Fans have to suffer every time with buying and selling tickets. Farooq said about the more modern process, 'This time we are trying to go to the digital platform. So that everyone can enjoy the game by buying tickets at their convenience. You know, we have done (BPL) in three venues. Starting from Dhaka we will go to Sylhet, from there we will go to Chittagong, then come back to Dhaka and play the last round. For those who want to watch the game, you can buy digital tickets through mobile phones and many apps. We are moving towards that goal. Hopefully, our digital platform will be done within this month.'

BPL chief advisor Dr. BCB also accepted some suggestions of Muhammad Yunus. Farooq said in that context, 'You all know, Dr. Muhammad Yunus helped get the Olympics we saw in France in 2014 or 2016 with a speech. He has worked in such big places, our sports advisor Asif Mahmood requested him, he has helped so much outside the country, how much more can BPL be involved.'

Water and stadium cleaning will be provided free of charge for the spectators. Farooq said, 'We have tried to incorporate some of his wonderful ideas into this BPL. We are trying not to make the gallery dirty, there will be some corners of water. You will get water in that corner. It will have a name, you will see when BPL starts. We will try to give the water for free. We are also trying to keep a zero waste zone gallery inside the stadium. I will try to keep everything clean.'
