Personal Correspondent: The court has granted bail to former planning minister MA Mannan, who is in jail in connection with the attack on the anti-discrimination student movement. However, during the bail hearing, the plaintiff's lawyers were not present in the court.
His bail hearing was held in Sunamganj District Sessions Judge Court on Wednesday (October 9). Defendant's lawyer Abdul Hamid confirmed the bail.
He said that former Planning Minister MA Mannan is ill and admitted to the hospital from prison. We have explained everything to the court. The court heard us and granted bail to the former planning minister considering his age and illness.
However, the defense lawyers were not present in the court during Mannan's bail hearing.
Plaintiff's lawyer Mashuk Alam said that suddenly the date of bail hearing of the former planning minister was fixed. The court judge left the courtroom when we opposed him in the morning. But when he called for another hearing at 2.30 pm, we boycotted the hearing. The court heard one side and granted bail to the former minister which is unfortunate.
Earlier in the morning, the judge left the courtroom when the lawyers of the courtroom made a commotion regarding the bail hearing of MA Mannan.
Hafiz Ali, the brother of a student who was injured in the anti-discrimination movement on September 2, filed the case against 99 people in Sunamganj Speedy Trial Court Judge Nirjan Mitra's court. Basically, the former minister is in jail in this case.
