Celebrated with the traditional water salute organized by the Marco Polo airport fire brigade, at 7.15 pm, the Air China Airbus 330-220 coming from Beijing with 200 passengers on board landed in Venice. The non-stop flight determines a saving of approximately 20% of time compared to travel solutions from Venice with connecting flights.
Welcoming him was a delegation made up of the President of the Save Group, Enrico Marchi, the managing director Monica Scarpa and the director of Aviation Development, Camillo Bozzolo, as well as the general director for Europe of Air China, Wu Feng and the general director of Milan, Li Duo, the president of the Veneto Region, Alberto Stefani and the mayor of Venice, Simone Venturini, the Consul General of Milan of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Chenggang, the minister economic and commercial advisor of the Chinese Embassy in Italy, Luo Jin, the President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Italy, Cheng Xuan.
The connection
The new connection in fact represents the realization of intense work carried out jointly by Air China and the Save Group, with the support of the Italian and Chinese Governments.
Enrico Marchi, president of the Save Group, explains: «The connection with the Chinese capital, a highly fascinating destination where past and future relate in a constant dialogue, brings with it the added value of a continuous network of flights which from the large hub, the company’s base, allow you to reach destinations in the Far East, as well as within China. For Venice, for the Veneto, and for our country, it means further strengthening, through a second direct flight between Marco Polo and China, a bond that can be traced back to historical relations and which today translates into new opportunities for cultural and economic exchanges.”
The new connection will serve and stimulate all traffic segments: business and cargo, tourism, VFR (visit friends and relatives).
