United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned on Wednesday (local time) that the ongoing conflict in West Asia is having the greatest impact on the poorest and most vulnerable populations. He has called for an immediate end to the war and a renewed effort at diplomacy.
In a post on Twitter, Guterres said the humanitarian consequences of the conflict are being borne by civilians who had no role in it. “The shocks of the conflict in the Middle East are being felt hardest by those without responsibility: the poorest and the most vulnerable,” he said.

America-Israel attack on Iran’s Lamard airport, no casualties

Israel: Judge closes investigation into death of prisoner teenager
An Israeli judge has closed the investigation into the death of Palestinian teenager Walid Ahmed in an Israeli prison. The judge said that even though it was clear that the teen was starved, it was not possible to determine the cause of death. Walid Ahmed was 17 and was arrested in September 2024 for throwing stones in the town of Silawad in the occupied West Bank. The family said that Walid was a healthy teenager. He spent six months in Israel’s Megiddo prison and died suddenly in March 2025.
The autopsy found no definite cause, although Israeli doctor Daniel Solomon suggested starvation as a possible cause. The report also mentioned that Walid was not given adequate food in jail for a long time and he also had health problems like colitis and scabies. Judge Ehud Kaplan said in his decision, “Although starvation appears to be the cause of his poor physical condition, based on the expert report I cannot say that his death was the result of any crime. The investigation is therefore closed.”
