UK interested in ground handling of third terminal

The UK has expressed its interest in ground handling operations at the third terminal of Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Although the process of awarding this work to the Japanese company is almost final, in the meantime, the UK’s new interest is taking the matter seriously.

British Ambassador to Bangladesh Sarah Cook held a meeting with Minister Afroza Khanam (Rita) and State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat at the conference room of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism on Tuesday afternoon. In the meeting, emphasis was placed on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

According to ministry sources, the UK’s cooperation in the development of the country’s civil aviation sector was sought in the meeting. At this time, Ambassador Sarah Cook assured to continue maximum cooperation with the current government. At the same time, he officially expressed the UK’s interest in the ground handling activities of the third terminal of Shahjalal Airport.

Apart from this, the ambassador also informed about the UK’s cooperation in developing Bangladesh as a regional aviation hub.

Those concerned say that when the third terminal is opened, it will be a big challenge to ensure ground handling management and international quality services. Foreign partnership can play an important role in this regard.
