Announcement of BNP program on the occasion of Independence Day

BNP announced program on the occasion of Independence Day. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed highlighted these programs in a press conference organized at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan on Sunday. In the press conference, he said that Major Ziaur Rahman’s declaration of independence had shown a new way to the bewildered nation.

According to the announced program, Prime Minister Tariq Rahman will visit the Savar National Memorial at 5 am on Independence Day on March 26 to pay tribute to the brave martyrs. National and party flags will be hoisted in the party offices across the country including the central office in Nayapaltan in the early morning of that day. Apart from this, a discussion meeting has been organized on the previous day on March 25 at Ramner Engineers Institution, where the top leaders of the party will speak.

In the press conference, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the Great Independence Day has given Bangladesh a distinct identity on the world map. In the past, people were deprived of all their liberties and created a terrible captivity through disappearances and murders. Those who wanted to undermine freedom, are defeated today.

Recalling the sacrifice of late former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, he said, ‘Begum Zia sacrificed everything for the rights of the people of the country. In return for his sacrifice, democracy returned to the country. Now people can at least speak without fear. No one is victimized by the state despite constructive criticism—this is the great achievement of the new Bangladesh.’

Stating that the country is moving forward under the leadership of Tariq Rahman, Rizvi said, ‘The country is constantly moving forward to fulfill the dream that Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has shown to the people of the country. But it will take some time to sort everything out.’

Urging everyone to cooperate unitedly in this process of new democracy, he said, ‘Those who are still blaspheming, will be labeled as fascism.’
