The National Citizen Party (NCP)’s ‘election march’ is starting in 24 districts of the country ahead of the referendum on the 13th National Assembly elections and reforms. Today, Sunday (January 25) around 11 pm, the party leaders and workers will leave for Chittagong from the temporary central office of NCP at Banglamotor in the capital.
Tomorrow, Monday, they will march in different areas of Chittagong and ask for ‘yes’ votes in the referendum. NCP said party chief Nahid Islam will participate in this march. NCP leaders said that after marching in various areas of Chittagong till Monday afternoon, they will reach Hatia via Lakshipur at night.
This padayatra program is scheduled to continue till February 5. As part of the programme, top NCP leaders said they would tour more than 20 districts to campaign for a ‘yes’ vote in the referendum. At the same time, they will also participate in the campaign of the 11-party electoral unity led by Jamaat-e-Islami.
Tariqul Islam, chief coordinator of the election march and convenor of the National Youth Force, said that it will continue across the country and will end with a grand gathering in Dhaka. The aim of the program is to explain to the public the ‘what’, ‘why’ and need for a ‘yes’ vote. The program will be conducted on the three themes of reform, good governance and sovereignty.
