Dr. Amjad Al-Wakil explained that the Dabaa power plant project is one of Egypt’s national projects in the field of energy, which is implemented by the Egyptian state represented by the Nuclear Power Plants Authority to generate electricity under the supervision of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy to enhance Egypt’s position in the field of nuclear energy. He also expressed his confidence in the ability of major Egyptian companies. To complete the work assigned to it, pointing out that the localization and transfer of nuclear technology is considered one of the most important goals of the state that the Power Stations Authority places as a top priority, and that it was agreed with the Russian side that the local participation rate should not be less than 20% in the first unit, reaching 35% in Unit Four.
For his part, Engineer Walid Lotfy expressed his happiness at signing the contract for the work of protecting the marine beaches in the Dabaa station project, with a length of 4.2 km, which is one of the steps in Petrojet’s participation in the Dabaa station, and includes the implementation of earthworks for about 2 million cubic meters of earthworks, and the supply and installation of rocks in a quantity exceeding 800 thousand. cubic metres, manufacturing and installing concrete breakwaters exceeding 91 thousand pieces.
He explained that Petrojet – the executive arm of the Egyptian petroleum sector – is currently considered one of the leading companies in the Middle East in qualifying to manufacture and install components of nuclear stations, after obtaining the highest international certificates in this field and passing all performance reviews from atomic energy institutions. He also pointed out that the company It aims to participate in the manufacture of some of the project’s equipment in cooperation with specialized companies, and is currently working to fulfill the requirements and permits and enhance its workshops with specialized equipment for manufacturing according to Russian specifications, which contributes to maximizing the local component and transferring nuclear industry technology to local companies.
