The country's economic crisis has been discussed for a long time. Everyone knows the problems, there is no shortage of discussions. Concerned repeatedly said, he has also analyzed – where the problem is. But where is the solution? Why reform is not implemented? Where does everything stop? The answer to the questions is the most missing.
This is how prominent people from the country participated in the first session of the two -day conference on 'Task Force recommendations on the economy reorganization on Monday. The conference was organized by the Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD), a private research agency, in the capital's BRAC Center. Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin was the chief guest on the occasion. The keynote paper was presented by two members of the Task Force, Senme, Executive Director of the Research Agency, Selim Raihan and Chairman of Rapid. Abdur Razzak.
CPD Chairman Prof Dr. Rehman Sobhan said, “The economic crisis of the country is nothing new, it is long discussed. Problems are familiar, the debate has not diminished. I myself talked about these on hundreds of occasions. But the main question remains – where is the consciousness? Why the initiative is taken but the reform stops? What are the real obstacles? He expects the task force, not just the image of the problem, but the obstacles in the path of reform will also come out clearly. I see, the reforms are still stuck. '
Speaking on the implementation of the Task Force Report on Economic Strategy Revolution, Chief Guest Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin said that he has not yet received the report on the economic strategy re-recitation task force. The session, presided over by the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), presided over the session and KS Murshid, the chairman of the task force, formed to restore the economic strategy.
It is to be noted that on January 5, members of the Task Force submitted a report on more than 500 pages to the Prime Minister. Most of the recommendations in the report are business and economics.
Sheikh Bashiruddin also mentioned at the event that during the previous government, the economy of Bangladesh became the focus of criminal activities and at this time a large amount of money was smuggled. He said this weakness has to be overcome. As the garment industry has improved rapidly before, it will not be possible at that kind of speed. For this, he emphasized special emphasis on the expansion of trade and export.
CPD Chairman also spoke about the constraints of the economy of the country and the strategy to get out of it. Rehman Sobhan. He said that the sectors that were identified for export diversification in the last 5 years have not yet been resolved. The correct analysis of these problems is essential for policy reform. Deep research and policymaking are needed on leather art, RMG diversification and backward linkage.
Former Commerce Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said the economy should be reset. Equal opportunity must be ensured for everyone. The market has to allow it to move at its speed. This requires large relaxation of the policy. Of the many tasks, the government is doing some of the things that have to be taken out of the trade body. '
“We have to go to the labor -intensive industry outside the clothing,” said Selim Raihan, a member and economist of the task force committee. We have to go towards skill -based products and services. The garment sector will also have to diversify. We need to bring adjustments to our policies. We see that one policy encourages exports, and another is hindering the export. '
Chairman of Rapid Abdur Razzak said the government should now form a Chief Trade Negotiator Office, so that the trade policy can be properly integrated and adjusted and its application is possible in each case effectively.
