Eni Chairman: Drilling operations will resume in Zohr field within days

Arab Finance: Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, met with Claudio Descalzi, CEO of the Italian company Eni, in the presence of Ambassador Mohamed Negm, Egypt’s ambassador to Switzerland, according to statement cabinet.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the existing cooperation between the Egyptian government and Eni, expressing his aspiration to strengthen cooperation relations with the company and deepen them to broader horizons. Madbouly also expressed his aspiration to follow up and visit the company’s new exploration sites in Egypt during the coming period.

The Prime Minister also indicated that the government is closely following efforts to increase production from various sites in accordance with the plans specified in this regard in cooperation with international partners.

Claudio Descalzi, CEO of the Italian company Eni, confirmed his aspiration for continued cooperation with the Egyptian government, reviewing in this context the company’s efforts to intensify drilling and exploration operations in Egypt. Descalzi said: January 28 or 29 is the date the driller will arrive at the Zohr field to resume drilling operations. It is expected that within two years at most, Egypt will return to high rates of gas production and export.

He praised the efforts made by the Egyptian government to develop the petroleum sector and the advanced infrastructure that the sector enjoys. The CEO of the Italian company Eni thanked Egypt for its commitment to paying the dues of foreign partners.
