Advisor to BNP Chairperson Syed Mozammel Hossain Alal said that none of those who were leaders in the student movement should have been part of the current government. The pressure that could have been exerted from the outside has largely subsided now.
On Wednesday (January 22) from 4:00 PM, 'National Unity: Why, on what basis and in what way?' He said these things in the discussion meeting.
Mozammel Hossain Alal said, “If we call the July uprising a war, one more thing to be considered among those who won the war is who will stay and who will not stay.” Then the consideration is if there is any precondition to be there. Common people expected a statement from Awami League and those who were allied with them. That we are sorry, that we have done wrong, that we ask for forgiveness. Even the silent supporters of Awami League expected that at least six leaders would apologize publicly, in audio or video, during the six months from August to January. But that consciousness did not come into them. Those who have that consciousness should think about unity. Then time will tell who will join and who won't.
Referring to Bangladesh as the basis of unity, he said, 'Once upon a time we had some national level leaders or guardians who intervened in various crises. Now I do not feel that such a leader or guardian is among us. Those who were could have been. But they have been put in such a situation that they are disgraced and imprisoned, they are disgusted and now they do not want to come to that responsibility.'
“Institutes have been destroyed. India and many European countries have a much dirtier political culture than ours. But their institutes are very strong. We have failed in that area since independence. If I could build the institutions properly, I would have at least thought before making a fuss. We should also emphasize that unity.'
The discussion was attended by Ragib Ahsan Munna, Secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and former VP of Raksu; Jonaid Saki, Chief Coordinator of Mass Solidarity Movement; Academician, geopolitical and international relations expert Lieutenant General (retd) Aminul Karim; Professor of Anthropology at Jahangirnagar University. Snigdha Rizwana. Author and activist Tuhin Khan read the main article of the discussion.
