'India has tried to use our friendship for its own interests'

BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzaman Dudu said, India has tried to use our friendship for their own benefit from the time of the freedom struggle till today (53 years).

He said these things at a protest rally organized by Bangladesh Cooperative Party Dhaka Metropolitan South in front of the National Press Club on Monday (December 23). The rally was held to protest against 'India's invasion of Sheikh Hasina's anarchy across the country'.

Shamsuzaman Dudu said, 'After winning the liberation war, the then new Bangladesh was plundered by the Indian army and its people. Just as Sheikh Hasina looted Bangladesh Bank indiscriminately, India also looted sacks of money at that time. At that time the newly independent Bangladesh got the weapons from the Pakistanis, they loaded the weapons and took them to India. At that time no weapons were available in Bangladesh except a few Russian SLRs. But thousands of crores of weapons were supposed to be in Bangladesh at that time.'

He said, 'We are observing the same behavior that the country called Bandhu used with the newly independent country this December. India could not accept the fall of Sheikh Hasina till date. They could not be friends of the people of Bangladesh. Bangladesh could not be a friend of freedom and democracy.'

Addressing the chief adviser, he said, 'Dr. Muhammad Yunus, come to your senses. One aspect of this popular uprising is an elected government. That elected government will lose its status until a popular uprising comes. If that status is to be retained, then the crisis must be resolved through the establishment of an elected government.'

He said, 'Some are trying to say that those who want elections at this moment are public enemies. They have a resemblance with Sheikh Hasina. It's sad. The country should move towards elections as soon as possible.'

Bangladesh Labor Party Chairman Lion Farooq Rahman, Nationalist Cooperative Party Central Committee President Principal Noor Afroz Begum Jyoti, Nationalist Cooperative Party Dhaka Metropolitan South Md. Ratan Mia and others were present in the rally.
