BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, July 36 or August 5 has created new opportunities by defeating the fascist forces. Using this opportunity, we want to establish Bangladesh as a truly democratic, modern and non-discriminatory state.
He said these things to the journalists after paying tribute to the intellectuals at the Martyr Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur on Saturday (December 14) morning.
Mirza Fakhrul said, 'Today is Martyred Intellectuals Day. On this day in 1971, on the eve of victory, the Pak-invader forces picked up and killed prominent people of Bangladesh's traditional journalists, intellectuals, professors, scientists and civil society. In 1971 we lost the best children of the nation.'
He said, 'People of Bangladesh fought in 1971 to build an independent, democratic and prosperous Bangladesh. This happened through the announcement of the liberation war of martyred President Ziaur Rahman.
BNP Secretary General said, 'On behalf of the nationalist party, on behalf of party chairperson Khaleda Zia and on behalf of acting chairman Tariq Rahman, we have all paid tribute today. I wish for the forgiveness of the martyred intellectuals.'
Mirza Fakhrul said that an election will be organized as per the wishes of the people very soon, “We are always optimistic.” An interim government has already been established, we are cooperating. Hopefully, an election will be organized as per the will of the people very soon. The people will have the opportunity to elect their representatives through a free, fair and impartial election.'
