India's Hindutva organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and more than two hundred social and cultural organizations have announced to lay siege to the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi next Tuesday (December 10). They claim that this program has been taken to protest against the oppression of the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh. On the same day, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Mishri's visit to Dhaka was also announced. He will come to Dhaka on Monday to discuss Bangladesh-India bilateral relations.
The Indian media reported on Friday that an organization called 'Civil Society of Delhi' led the protest on December 10, but the RSS is actually playing a key role behind it. Rajneesh Jindal, deputy head of media management of RSS's Delhi wing, announced the program at a press conference on Friday.
Jindal alleged that the Bangladeshi government was oppressing Hindus and other minority communities. He claimed that this allegation has created public anger across India.
Jindal said that more than two hundred social, cultural and religious organizations will participate in this program. A memorandum will be submitted to Bangladesh High Commission. At the same time, the memorandum will be sent to international organizations such as the United Nations, the United Nations Human Rights Commission, the World Health Organization, Amnesty International and the Asian Development Bank.
The RSS leader said, we will demand the intervention of the international community to stop the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh.
In a press conference, former Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Veena Sikri and former Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director General Rajiv Jain highlighted the 'deteriorating' human rights situation in Bangladesh and expressed deep concern over violence against members of minority communities in neighboring countries.
Veena Sikri said this is the worst situation for Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh since the 1971 liberation war.
Meanwhile, the purpose of Vikram Mishri's visit to Dhaka is mainly to normalize Bangladesh-India relations and discuss minority security. India wants that no incident should take place which would increase the tension or destabilize the bilateral relations.
