Justice must be ensured not delayed: Chief Justice


The Chief Justice commented that justice should not be delayed. Syed Refat Ahmed. He said, 'Reducing judicial delay is not merely an administrative goal, but a moral imperative. We must ensure that justice is not delayed.'

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a conference titled 'Judicial Independence and Efficiency' at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Saturday (December 7).

The Chief Justice said that judicial proceedings are being made easier with legal aid through maximum use of technology, procedural reforms.

Outlining some steps to ensure the administrative autonomy of the judiciary, the Chief Justice said, “As part of my firm commitment to institutional reforms and strengthening the independence of the judiciary, I have taken decisive steps to lay the foundation for true separation of powers.” I announced and initiated the process of creating a separate secretariat for the Judiciary. An important step to ensure the administrative autonomy of the judiciary.

Besides, I have proposed to the government to set up a Judicial Appointments Council to institutionalize transparency and merit in the appointment process of Supreme Court judges.
