Russia interested in Trump's plan to end Ukraine war: Deputy Foreign Minister

Russia is interested in hearing US President-elect Donald Trump's plan to resolve the Ukraine conflict, but has yet to receive a clear proposal. This is what Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said. He said this in an interview given to the American broadcaster CNN.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that he will end the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office. However, since the victory of the presidential election held last month, there has been no direct communication between Moscow and Trump or his party, Rabkov said.

The deputy foreign minister said, “Russia will examine the proposals of the future president of the United States, but Moscow will not compromise on its main national interests under any circumstances.” In the interview, he also said, 'The possibility of compromise between Russia and Kiev is now zero. Because, the positions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are completely inconsistent.'

This Russian minister also said, “When the people of Kiev begin to understand that Russia will not go the way they have proposed – then maybe new opportunities and possibilities can be created.” He also said, 'The current geopolitical tension between Russia and the West is at an unprecedented level since the height of the Cold War.' He expressed concern that the risks associated with it are increasing day by day.

There is no “magical solution” to the conflict, he warned, and the West lacks common sense, moderation and “stable analysis”. At the same time, they are underestimating Russia's determination to protect its security interests.

“We have not lost our sensibility,” said Rabkov. We will not step into any incitement.' He added, 'Russia's tolerance and determination to take all measures to protect national interests, no matter how much money America spends, or what the European Union wants to do. We will win there, no doubt.' He also asserted, 'If the US does not abandon its strategy of relentlessly pressuring Moscow, Russia may be forced to adopt stronger military measures.'
