Govt will not politicize trade issue with India: Finance Adviser


Finance advisor. Salehuddin Ahmed said that the government will not play politics on trade issues with India.

He said this in response to a question from journalists after the meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement in the Cabinet Room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Wednesday (December 4).

Finance advisor said, 'Politics will not enter into trade issue with India.'

When asked about the prices of daily necessities in the upcoming Ramadan, he said, “There will be relief in the prices of daily necessities in the month of Ramadan.”

The question of whether the product market is stable. Salehuddin Ahmed said, 'I don't think that the market is stable. The price has come down a bit. We have decided to import rice and lentils.'

He also said, 'The price of soybean oil has increased a lot. We are discussing how and to what extent it can be reduced. Soybean oil is being imported. I have reduced the duty on soybean oil. So be patient.'

In response to another question, the advisor said, 'It does not matter whether we import rice from India or not.'

Referring to the warning of a West Bengal politician to ban potato and onion in Bangladesh, he said, 'That is a matter for diplomats. They will see.' If there is excess rice-onion production in India, where will they sell it? Salehuddin Ahmed.
