A research team from Shaanxi University of Technology in Northwest China recently identified two new species of wild mushrooms in a sanctuary in the Qinba Mountain area.
The team from the School of Biological Science and Engineering, led by Prof. Song Yu, named the two species found in the Michangshan Biosphere Reserve as 'Rusula michangshanensis' and 'Rusula minirosia'.
Details of the two new species have been published in the European Journal of Taxonomy Science Citation Index.
Two mushroom species were found in Michangshan Biosphere Reserve in August 2021 and September 2022.
The researchers collected 12 samples of each species and analyzed their macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. In this work, they also analyzed five genes of the mushrooms.
