In the press briefing, Rafiqul Islam said that 20 teams from 10 organizational divisions of BNP across the country are participating in the Zia Cricket Tournament. Rajshahi, Faridpur, Barisal, Khulna, Comilla, Chittagong, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Rangpur and Sylhet will have two teams named red and green in each organizational division. Two teams from each division will play one match against each other. Dhaka North and Dhaka South teams will be joined in the main stage with 10 winning teams out of 10 matches. Although the divisional level games will be held in various divisional and district cities, the main phase will begin on January 16 in Dhaka.
Rafiqul Islam also said that the final of the tournament will be held at the Mirpur Sherbangla Cricket Stadium on the birthday of President Ziaur Rahman on January 19 with the cooperation of BCB. The opening match will be broadcast live by private television T-Sports.
