3 police dismissed, 7 arrested

Action has been taken against four police officers in connection with the vandalism at the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, Tripura, India. Besides, seven people were arrested by the local police. This information was revealed in a police statement on Tuesday (December 3). Indian media The Hindustan Times reported this.

West Tripura Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiran Kumar said three sub-inspectors have been dismissed. Another deputy superintendent has been ordered to report to headquarters as 'closed'.

SP Kumar also said that investigation into the incident is going on and further action will be taken as per legal process. Security has been increased at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission after the attack. CRPF and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) have been deployed there.

The incident started from a protest rally organized by the workers of Hindu Sanchash Samiti on Monday. Protesters tried to enter the office of the Assistant High Commission to protest the arrest of former ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das and the alleged torture of minorities in Bangladesh.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha strongly condemned the attack. He said, protests can be peaceful, but such behavior is totally unacceptable.
