25 projects worth Tk 45000 crore have been approved by Ekne including China Friendship Hospital in North Bengal


25 development projects at a cost of Tk 45 thousand 191 crore 27 lakh have been approved in the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). Out of this, the government’s own financing is 10 thousand 881 crore 40 lakh taka, foreign debt is 32 thousand 18 crore 9 lakh taka and the organization’s own financing is 2 thousand 291 crore 78 lakh taka.

Today, Sunday, the chief advisor and Eknek chairperson. The meeting was held at the NEC conference room in the capital’s Sherbangla Nagar Planning Commission premises under the chairmanship of Muhammad Yunus. The meeting approved 14 new, 6 revised and 5 extended projects.

In the meeting, planning advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud, financial advisor. Salehuddin Ahmed, foreign adviser. Tauhid Hossain, advisors of various ministries and senior government officials were present.

Among the approved projects are two important projects of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.

These are Rangamati (Manikachari-Mahalchari-Khagrachari) regional highway widening and development and three regional and one district highway development projects under Munshiganj road division.

Apart from this, under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, the second amendment of the Elevated Expressway construction project from Lalkhan Bazar to Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong city has been approved.

Two projects of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism have been approved, including the strengthening of runways and taxiways at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport and the Parki Tourism Facility Development Project.

The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives includes ‘Women Entrepreneurship in Sanitation’ and important rural infrastructure development projects in Comilla district.

Through two projects of the Ministry of Home Affairs, construction of police outposts, investigation centers, naval police and tourist police facilities and district offices of the Narcotics Control Directorate will be constructed in different parts of the country. The second amendment of the dual gauge railway line construction project through Dohazari-Ramu-Cox’s Bazar to Ghumdhum on the Myanmar border has been approved under the Ministry of Railways.

As major projects in the health sector, the establishment of a 1,000-bed Bangladesh-China Partnership General Hospital for the people of the northern region and the development of health and nutrition services have been approved. In the education and youth sector, 64 districts have employment generation schemes through freelancing training for educated job-seeking youth and expansion of alternative education programs for out-of-school children.

In six projects of the Ministry of Water Resources, initiatives will be taken to prevent river erosion, dredging, construction of rubber dams and integrated water and land management of Aridial Bill area. The first amendment of Rooppur nuclear power plant construction project under the Ministry of Science and Technology has been approved.

Apart from this, ECNEC was informed about 10 projects costing less than 50 crore rupees in the meeting. These projects include Government College Development, BUP Development, Fire Service Ambulance Service Expansion and Syedpur Power Plant Construction Project.
