Bangladesh's 34-year wait for their first win in Sharjah ended with a 68-run victory over Afghanistan. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto led from the front with the bat in this victory of Bangladesh. The man of the match also scored the highest innings of 76 runs. Still, the Bangladesh captain is not happy with his performance in this match.
“Honestly, I'm not happy (with my performance),” Shanto said while receiving the man-of-the-match award after the game. I should have batted for longer. Because it became difficult to bat against spin on the wicket. But I'm happy with how I was playing in the beginning.'
Shanto also expressed satisfaction with the bowling performance of Bangladesh. The captain was especially impressed with the spin bowling of Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Nasum Ahmed, 'the way Miraj and Nasum bowled, the credit belongs to them.'
Praising the performance of pacer Taskin Ahmed, Shanto further said, 'The way Taskin dismissed Gurbaz, it was a big success for us. Gurbaz is Afghanistan's key batsman, and his quick departure has helped us execute our plans.'
Satisfied with Zaker and Nasum's performance at the end. In the captain's words, 'The way Zaker and Nasum played, it gave momentum to the team. I want them to keep up the performance.'
