On the occasion of International Biodiversity Day, a walk titled ‘Walk for Biodiversity’ and an open photo exhibition titled ‘Unseen Biodiversity of Bangladesh’ were held.
It was organized by Bengal Peace Foundation on Friday at Sanjeeb Chowdhury Square in TSC of Dhaka University. The organization officially started its journey through this. The event was co-hosted by Dharitri Rakshaye Amra (Dhara).
The organizing organization said in a press release that the members of the organization marched out of Ramna Park at 7:30 a.m. on Friday morning to the Botanical Garden of Mirpur. An exhibition of 100 photographs by four wildlife photographers was held at TSC at 4 pm.
The event was attended by writer and mountaineer Ikramul Hasan Shakeel. He said, the root of global warming is the dire crisis of biodiversity across the world. Destruction of trees, hunting of important animals of the environment is pushing us towards a terrible world. He said, I applaud this initiative of Bengal Peace Foundation. Their event today will greatly encourage people to protect biodiversity.
Executive Director of Bengal Peace Foundation Masfiqul Hasan Tony said, we want to spread the message of awareness to the people of the world. Biodiversity of the entire country is under threat due to some intolerant people. From that responsibility, we have organized this padayatra with the aim of conserving biodiversity, increasing environmental awareness and awakening a sense of responsibility towards nature.
