In honor of Amir Mamunul Haque of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, Islami Andolan Bangladesh will not field candidates in his electoral Dhaka-13 and Bagerhat-1 constituencies. Gazi Ataur Rahman, the spokesman of the Islamic movement, said this in a statement on Monday (January 19).
In the statement, Gazi Ataur said, out of respect for the Amir of the Khilafat Majlis, Maulana Mamunul Haque, the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh will not field candidates for the two seats in which he has contested. In these two seats, the candidates of Islami Andolan Bangladesh will be withdrawn. Maulana Mamunul Haque will be supported by the Islamic Movement in both seats. This decision was taken out of respect for his sacrifice and contribution in Islamic politics.
Gazi Ataur Rahman also said that the Islamic Movement Bangladesh is not thinking of joining forces with any other party. Islami Andolon Bangladesh will support honest and qualified candidates based on principles in all the constituencies where there is no candidate of Islami Andolon Bangladesh.
It should be noted that Amir Mamunul Haque of Khilafat Majlis is running this election as a partner party of the 10-party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami.
