Due to continuous rains and upstream flow, the water level of Teesta River in Nilphamari continues to rise. The height of river water was recorded at 52.25 cm at Dalia Teesta barrage point on Sunday (June 28) at 9 pm. Which is flowing 10 cm above the danger zone. There is a risk of inundation of the low-lying areas.

Amitabh Chowdhury, executive engineer of Dalia Water Development Board, said that at 6 pm on Sunday, the height of river water at Dalia Teesta barrage point was 52.22 cm, which was flowing 7 cm above the flood limit. However, at 9 pm, the water level increased to 52.25 cm. As a result, the Teesta water started to flow 10 cm above the boundary line.

He also said that the situation has been kept under observation due to the continued downpour from the upstream. If the river water rises further, the flood situation in the low-lying areas may worsen.
