Organized by Pawa Chess Club and former Marine Chief Engineer. Under the patronage of Rafiqul Hasan, martyr Dr. Tajwar Zia became the champion in Raisul Hasan Noman Invitational Rating Chess Tournament.
10 competitors including 2 international masters, 7 fide masters participated in this 9 round robin league style invitational chess competition. Almost all of them are current and former national chess players.
At the end of the final round, Fide Master Tahsin scored 7.5 points with 6 wins and 3 draws in 9 rounds.
National Junior Champion Saqlain Mustafa Sajid was the unbeaten runner-up with 6 points from 9 rounds with 3 wins and 6 draws.
International Master Md. Minhaj Uddin finished 3rd on tiebreaking points with 6 points from 9 rounds with 3 wins and 6 draws.
International master Abu Sufian Shakil finished fourth with 5 points and FIDE master Sheikh Nasir Ahmed got tiebreaking fifth place with 5 points.
Fide Master Taibur Rahman Sumon, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, was present as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. Also present were Pon Power Chess Club President International Master Abu Sufian Shakeel, Advisor Tasmin Rahman Lavanya and others from the club.
