Strong core brand o2 and improved profit margin drive growth of o2 Telefónica in the second quarter



The number of mobile contract lines increased by more than 215,000 net additions in the second quarter. Since the beginning of the 2024 financial year, O2 Telefónica has reported mobile lines excluding third-party network operator lines and third-party network operator lines for transfer separately. The growth was again driven by the strong development of the core brand O2 and the successful offer for the O2 Mobile Friends & Family-Tarifewhich the company launched at the beginning of the year. The churn rate at O2 was 1.0% in the second quarter. This means that only one percent of O2 customers switch to another provider each month.

At the end of July, the core brand O2 further sharpened its positioning as a particularly customer-friendly telecommunications brand. In doing so, the O2 brand is continuing on its path of understanding the needs of its customers particularly well and developing suitable products. Unlike in the past, O2 will in future talk explicitly about how the brand responds to customers’ wishes – and how this can be done even better in the future. The first step is a campaign on cost transparency entitled “O2 Pay Stop”.
