Stopped importing stones indefinitely from two countries

Most importers have stopped importing stones indefinitely through the Burimari land port in Patgram of Lalmonirhat. The decision has been implemented since Saturday morning as the import price per tonne of stones from India and Bhutan increased by 5 to 5 dollars.

The Burimari Import-Export Association sent a letter requesting the exporters of India and Bhutan to re-exchange the price of the stone, citing the increase in interest rates, import costs and market value inconsistencies on January 5 and 7. The organization held an emergency meeting on January 5 without receiving any positive response. It is decided that the price of Stone Boulder from Bhutan will be fixed at $ 5 per metric ton, Samsi Stone $ 5 and Stone Boulder Torsha from India to $ 5. According to the decision, the exporters of India and Bhutan were informed that the import of stones would be stopped temporarily from February 1. However, the importers of the Burimari land port decided to stop importing indefinitely as neither party took effective action.

Abu Ryan Asari Rachi, president of the Burimari Land Port Import-Export Association, said, “The export association of both countries was given a letter to discuss the re-export price of stone export from India and Bhutan. But they did not take any initiative. So according to the predecessor, we have stopped importing stones indefinitely. '

Serejamin found that the entry of cargo vehicles to the Burimari land port has decreased from the vacuum of Changabandha land port in India. In the normal time where there were long rows of stone trucks, the road is now almost empty. As a result, the official activities of Burimari customs and ports have also significantly reduced.

According to the information, the roads of Bhutan are about 3-5 km more than Bangabandha and Sonhat land ports of Bangladesh. However, the price of stone exports through these ports is less than $ 1-5 per ton. On the other hand, the road distance of the Burimari land port is low, but the exporters of Bhutan have raised the price 4-5 dollars, which has become a cause for local importers.
