South Asia calls for the creation of the grid. of Yunus

The Chief Advisor of the Interim Government called for the creation of a South Asia grid to share the hydropower produced by Nepal and Bhutan. Muhammad Yunus. He made the call in a meeting with social business groups on the sidelines of the Climate Conference in Baku on Wednesday (November 13). The matter was informed in a message sent by the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser.

Professor Yunus said, 'Bangladesh can easily bring hydropower from Nepal, as it is only 40 miles away from Bangladesh. Nepal's hydropower will also be cheaper. Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Bhutan should consider building the South Asian grid.'

In the meeting, the Chief Advisor said, 'Most of the hydropower potential of the Himalayan countries remains untapped due to lack of electricity grid connecting Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Bhutan. Nepalese officials say the country has the potential to generate 4,000 megawatts of hydropower, which could help major countries like India and Bangladesh reduce their dependence on fossil fuels.

Professor Yunus also spoke about the reform initiatives of the interim government and the popular uprising of July-August.
