According to the newspaper, Modi is angry with Trump’s aggressive trade policy and India as ‘Dead Economy’. Earlier there were good relations between the two leaders, but now India has canceled the talks for the trade agreement with the US. The US delegation was stopped from coming to New Delhi.
Trump has imposed a total of 50% tariff on India, out of which 25% tariff has been imposed as fine, which will be applicable from 27 August i.e. tomorrow. Trump says that due to India’s purchasing Russian oil, Putin is helping to continue the war against Ukraine.
Report- Trump starts talking by threatening tariff
The newspaper quoted experts as saying- Usually the way of Trump is that they first attack a country over trade deficit, then threatened to threaten high tariffs. After this, the conversation begins with fear and finally he tries to call himself the winner by applying high tariffs, then giving some discounts.
This has happened to many countries and Trump showed how strong his hold on the US market, but Modi refused to bow down this time.

Trump’s attitude reminds Modi a decade -old insult
The newspaper has written that PM Modi has felt much worse than Trump’s behavior. He is reminding Modi of the old humiliation that he got from Jinping almost a decade ago. The newspaper writes that Modi does not want India to be a part of any such ‘stunt’, so he refused to talk to Trump.
That is why Modi canceled the American delegation’s proposed visit to Delhi and gave a message that India would not be a part of Trump’s controversy.
India’s growth rate may decrease by 1%
According to the report, 50% of the US tariffs may affect India’s import. India’s 20% import, such as clothes, jewelery and auto parts go to America. India’s economic growth rate can be reduced from 6.5% to 5.5% due to this heavy tariff.
Trump has claimed to have a ceasefire between India and Pakistan about 30 times in the last 3 months. Prime Minister Modi has clearly denied this. India clearly says that the ceasefire between the two countries has taken place through mutual dialogue, there is no third party role in it.
Apart from this, Trump had talked about developing oil reserve in Pakistan and invited the Pakistani Army Chief to the White House. These decisions were also going to make India angry.
