Arab Finance – Continued raising the production of the back field and adding 65 million cubic feet of gas per day


Arab Finance: Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, confirmed the continuation of the program to improve production rates from Dhuhr fieldIn cooperation with investment partners, within the framework of the first axis of the Ministry’s strategy.

He explained that placing the well “back-6” to production contributed to the addition of about 65 million cubic feet of gas per day, while continuing to work in digging new wells to increase production. The minister pointed out that the back field represents an essential pillar in securing an important aspect of the local market needs of natural gas.

This came during the meetings of the general assemblies of Petrobl and Petrovils to adopt the results of the fiscal year 2024/2025, in the presence of the leaders of the oil sector and representatives of international partner companies: Eni, BP, Rosente, Arkius Energy, and Mbalab.

The Minister praised the efforts of the partners and workers in the field in implementing expansion plans and increasing production, with full commitment to safety standards and environmental preservation.

The meetings also witnessed discussion of proposals to expand research and exploration activities in greater depths, based on the seizures, as the minister directed to conduct in -depth studies and develop long -term scenarios to maximize the benefit of capabilities and increase production.

For their part, representatives of the international partners praised the story of the success of the back field, stressing that the increase in production was achieved in a safe work environment despite the intensification of activities.

During the presentation of the results of the business of Petrochorouk, Eng. Khaled Muwafi, the president of the company, explained that new investments amounting to 569 million dollars were pumped during the past fiscal year, which included the implementation of a development program for the back field, the most prominent results of the entry of the well “Dhahr-6” on production, and the preparation for digging the well “back-9” is being prepared alongside two new development wells during the current fiscal year.

Muwafi also reviewed the results of Petrobela, which pumped investments exceeding 460 million dollars in the areas of production and exploration, and achieved production estimated at about 56 thousand barrels per day of crude oil in the Nile Delta and Sinai, despite the challenges related to the progress of some fields that are more than 70 years old.

He pointed to the addition of 3 new wells in the Sinai fields with an average production of 4700 barrels per day, in addition to implementing an intensive program for maintenance of 96 wells, which contributed to increasing production by about 6 thousand barrels per day.

He also drew attention to the cooperation with the Italian company Eni to study raising the production of the Abordis -Sidri field in the Gulf of Suez, as well as intensifying geological studies in the Gulf of Suez and the Mediterranean Sea to assess available opportunities.
