Passenger terminal building opened at Petrapol


Maitri Dwar and passenger terminal building opened at Petrapole land port in West Bengal on India-Bangladesh border. They were launched on Wednesday (November 29). As a result, the border trade between the two countries will increase. India-Bangladesh will benefit financially.

On October 27, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Maitri Dwar and Passenger Terminal Building at the Petrapol border on his visit to West Bengal. He appreciated the role of Land Port Authority of India in improving relations with neighboring countries. Amit Shah commented that LPAI is the gateway for border security, border trade, and people-to-people relations between the two countries.

Petrapol-Benapol land port is one of the communication border between the two countries. Petrapol land port towards India and Benapole land port towards Bangladesh. Petrapole-Benapole is one of the trade and passenger crossing borders of the two countries.

70 percent of India's land trade with Bangladesh is through this border. Again, 30 percent of the total trade of the two countries is through this border. Again, Petrapole is the eighth largest international immigration port in India. 23 lakh 50 thousand people of the two countries travel through this border annually.
